New York State Next Generation English Language Arts Learning Standards
The New York State Board of Regents Reform Agenda recently included the implementation of the Next Generation Learning Standards. These standards have been defined as "the knowledge, skills, and understanding that individuals can and do habitually demonstrate over time when exposed to high-quality instructional environments and learning experiences." The ultimate goal is to better prepare students to be college and career ready. As students advance through the grades and master these standards, they should be able to exhibit with increasing consistency capacities of a literate individual.
